Post Call of Duty 7 Confirmed
http://news.softpedia.com/news/Activisi ... 6329.shtml

Quote:
Mike Griffith, who is the president of Activision Publishing, stated that “In 2010, Activision Publishing is expected to release strong, innovative new titles. The diversified lineup will include titles based on the best selling franchises including Call of Duty, Guitar Hero, Shrek, Spider-Man.” The company man spoke just after Activision Blizzard announced better than expected results for the current year.

There was already a rumor going around about Treyrch working on another Call of Duty game, mostly confirmed by the reveal coming from an employee who said back in May that a Call of Duty 7 was “in production.” The development studio has also hinted strongly that World at War will be the final game set between 1939 and 1945 and has been looking for music taken from Cuba, the Soviet Union and Africa, which might suggest that it is preparing to release a Call of Duty title set during the Cold War period, offering plenty of interesting conflicts that can be depicted in a first person shooter.

There's also the possibility of seeing a Call of Duty MMO at some point, as Activision Chief Executive Officer Bobby Kotick insinuated at some point, but that project is likely still some years away as Activision is getting insights on the genre from Blizzard. 2010 will probably see the release of a traditional shooter in one of the flashpoints of the Cold War, like Korea or Vietnam.

Not that it's a big surprise, though I guess they're done with WWII. I've seen some rumors bandied about that say it'll be around the Vietnam War. Don't recall any games using the Korean War, that might be an interesting take. No matter what they go with, it looks to be highly likely we'll be killing Commies.

I would love to see a version that dealt with Korea. My dad fought in that one.

Hmm, what about a WWI fps game? It'd be pretty straightforward...stay in a trench most of the time, get pounded by huge artillery barrages, and once in awhile go "over the top" into no-man's land and get mowed down by machine guns. Sounds like fun. =+::-k

If it's WW1 the graphics can be old and dated and then ZombieZero could play on Ubuntu!!!

CVG wrote:
CVG can confirm that Activision has pencilled in a November release for the seventh Call Of Duty - which will be set in the late 1960s, during the Vietnam War.

Following this week's rumours, a senior UK trade source today told us that the Treyarch-developed title is scheduled to arrive a full 12 months after last year's Modern Warfare 2.

They added that the game would be set during the Vietnam conflict - and takes particular influence from classic movies Apocalypse Now and Platoon.

"It's going to be November again - just as with World At War and Modern Warfare 2," they told CVG.

"Activision believes that it can own Christmas 2010, just as it has in the last two years.

"Development is on course - and Treyarch have been told the game must be ready to hit shelves before the gifting season."

Activision declined to comment when contacted by CVG.

Not sure a "senior UK trade source" counts as real confirmation, but that's the info as of now on CoD7.

So Activision is releasing games based on 5 year EA titles?

BF2 -> Modern Warfare
BF Vietnam -> COD7
